a little about this yogini

The light in me sees, respects, and appreciates the light in you
                                                                                                                      Namaste

What feels like a lifetime ago, I was a professional dancer.  Before I graduated college, I held three professional contracts with an equity theater performing as a lead dancer.  As I was working to finish my degree in dance, I sustained shoulder injuries that put a halt to my dance career.  After graduating with a degree in theater, I ended up in Las Vegas, NV, and after several years of hopping around hospitality careers, a friend invited me to a hot vinyasa yoga class.

Expecting yoga to be slow and boring, I quickly learned I couldn't have been more wrong.

Yoga brought on an enormous amount of personal growth through challenging my body and mind.  I am proud to say I find constant growth in my practice and am an entirely different person than I was prior to yoga.  It's improved my patience, increased my positivity, allowed a deeper appreciation for all things, as well as more flexibility and strength.  I decided to become a yoga instructor so I could help others find what I found from practicing.  I received my RYT 200 certification from Body Heat Hot Pilates and Yoga in Las Vegas, NV, and am registered with Yoga Alliance.  I earned additional certifications in trauma yoga from the Las Vegas-based organization Trauma Recovery Yoga..

My full-time yoga career began in Las Vegas, NV.  I led meditations and yoga classes for a wide range of groups including general studio classes, college classes, corporate and convention, privates, party groups as well as trauma-sensitive classes.  I have taught to class sizes ranging from one to 75.  Then I moved to the heart of Washington, DC.  While living in Dupont Circle, I was proud to not only work for local studios, but also multiple government agencies and the White House Athletic Center.   During that time, I was approached by Flywheel Sports to train in their barre program.  Since the completion of my barre training, I have been thrilled to incorporate barre and sculpt fitness classes into my portfolio.  Through an Advanced Fitness Training with Blaze Yoga and Pilates in Portsmouth, NH, I know teach a variety of weights classes.

Fitness, to me, is about breakthroughs, both mental and physical.  With that goal in mind, I aim to challenge my clients.  The word challenge can be intimidating, but the reality is sometimes the challenge of a fitness class can be in maintaining a clear and focused mind.  For others, the challenge may be more physical.  That's why it is important for me to cater my classes to my clients.  I enjoy teaching creative sequences that keep students on their toes.  By the end of our time together, you will walk away feeling renewed and either totally energized or totally exhausted, but definitely determined to come back for more.

While I now work and reside in the Portsmouth, NH, area, I still embrace a relaxed west coast vibe with the ambitious work ethic of DC.  I'm always happy to work with small or large groups as well as private clients.  I look forward to meeting you and having the opportunity to guide you in your own practice, helping you along this journey to see what personal breakthroughs we can achieve in your life.

I am proud to be registered with Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT 200 and RYT 500.

TESTIMONIALS

We are a family-owned self-defense and fitness gym in Las Vegas. We're well-respected in the community and we bring variation of instruction to our members on a regular basis. We only look for people of top quality and professionalism when searching for guest instructors. We were fortunate to have Jenna teach a 1 hour session in Trauma Recovery Yoga for our members. Many of our clientele are veterans, law enforcement, military, or survivors of attacks or traumatic events. We were very careful with who we brought in for this session.

We couldn't have been more impressed with how Jenna taught this class! Her background and special education to relate the practice of yoga to our members was well thought out and her expertise was evident. We received only extremely positive feedback from all of the participants. Many of our members were asking when the next class taught by Jenna would be, as they were very impressed with what they gained from only a 1 hour session with her.

We would highly recommend Jenna to any gym, studio, or individual seeking a highly qualified and knowledgeable yoga instructor to teach any class!

NOMAD KRAV MAGA

Jenna is an AMAZING yoga instructor, definitely one of the best! The energy she brings to each class is so welcoming while making you want to do your best and work your absolute hardest. The flows she creates are smooth, challenging, and so much fun! I find it easy to follow along in class due to her excellent movement cues and I always feel that her instructions bring my practice to the next level. Her flexibility and execution of each pose are an inspiration. If you ever have the chance to train with Jenna, DO IT. You won’t regret it!

CYNTHIA L

The power vinyasa style that Jenna teaches makes it a great workout for everyone.  As a guy, sometimes yoga classes aren't strenuous enough for me to feel I did any strength building.  Jenna makes sure we always work up a sweat while maintaining respect to the practice by directing our focus to breath and clearing the mind.  I definitely recommend her if you're looking to work up a sweat and build strength, but still enjoy the peaceful benefits of yoga.
